Automated Press Safety Enclosure & Controlled Quench Cell
01 / THE PRODUCTION CHALLENGE

What needed to be engineered.

A 600-ton hydraulic forging press and adjacent rapid oil-quench tank presented severe safety hazards from oil mist, hot-metal splash, and pinch points.

The plant required complete Category 4 / PLe safety guarding that did not obstruct fast die changes or overhead crane loading.

02 / TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE & SOLUTION

How Draftdu solved it.

Draftdu engineered a heavy-duty structural steel enclosure with pneumatic high-speed vertical roll-up access doors, interlocked safety switches, bullet-resistant polycarbonate view ports, and an integrated fume exhaust hood.

The automated doors synchronize with press cycle commands, opening immediately upon cycle completion and locking shut during press strokes.

03 / QUANTIFIABLE OUTCOME

Measurable shop-floor results.

Full compliance with ISO 13849-1 Category 4 / PLe safety standards, 100% containment of oil splashes and fumes, and a 45% reduction in die-change setup access time.
